SASSA Payment Dates 2026/27: Full Social Grant Schedule
The SASSA payment dates for 2026/27 cover April 2026 to March 2027. This guide lists the monthly payment schedule for Older Persons, Disability and Children's Grants, with the important changes explained in one place. If you need to check an individual SRD payment result instead, see our SASSA status check for SRD R370 guide.
SASSA generally pays the three groups in stages. Public holidays and special circumstances can affect the dates, so use the confirmed calendar rather than assuming every month follows an identical pattern.
Looking for your SRD R370 payday? SRD R370 does not follow the fixed calendar below. For guidance on your individual monthly result, check your SRD status and use SASSA's official service.
The annual calendar
SASSA Payment Dates 2026/27 — Complete Monthly Calendar
SASSA confirmed the 2026/27 payment calendar after National Treasury's approval on 20 March 2026. The financial year runs from April 2026 through March 2027. The table below includes the revised November dates, which override the original November row.

How to Read the Payment Calendar
Find the month you need and read across to your grant category. In July 2026, for example, Older Persons Grants were scheduled for 2 July, Disability Grants for 3 July and Children's Grants for 6 July.
The dates show scheduled payment days, not an exact hour when every account balance will update. Certain supplementary grants follow a qualifying underlying grant rather than having a separate date.
The SASSA dates for April 2026 also show why looking up the actual month matters: Older Persons Grants were scheduled for 2 April, while Disability and Children's Grants followed on 7 and 8 April due to the Easter holiday period.
Before planning an important trip, check for a newer official SASSA announcement. A published revision takes priority over an older annual table.
Important changes
Latest SASSA Payment Dates and Schedule Changes
The approved annual calendar is a useful reference, but payment arrangements can be changed for exceptional circumstances. November 2026 and August 2026 illustrate the difference between a revised regular schedule and a special date for grants under review.
November 2026 · Revised payment dates
SASSA changed the regular schedule ahead of the 4 November Local Government Elections, following National Treasury approval.
- Older Persons: Friday, 30 October 2026
- Disability: Monday, 2 November 2026
- Children's: Tuesday, 3 November 2026
Under review: Thursday, 5 November was reserved for relevant review cases, not a universal fourth payment day.
August 2026 · Review-case exception
The regular August calendar remained 4, 5 and 6 August for Older Persons, Disability and Children's Grants respectively.
7 August 2026 was designated for beneficiaries with grants under review. Beneficiaries were still required to complete the review process.
Why November's Dates Differ from the Original Calendar
The original annual schedule showed 3 November for Older Persons, 4 November for Disability and 5 November for Children's Grants. Those dates were superseded by the approved revision announced on 15 October 2026. The updated calendar above uses the replacement dates, not the original ones.
Where to Confirm Future Payment Updates
- Start with the official SASSA website or the Department of Social Development.
- Match the relevant month and grant category to the published schedule.
- Look for a newer announcement about a revised date or a special arrangement for grants under review.
- If an expected payment has not arrived, use SASSA's official contact channels for assistance.
Understanding payment days
How the SASSA Grant Payment Schedule Works
The SASSA grant payment schedule spreads regular social grant payments across different days instead of paying every grant category at once. For the 2026/27 financial year, SASSA published a calendar for Older Persons, Disability and Children's Grants. The order is generally the same, but the exact dates are set out month by month.
Why SASSA Uses a Staggered Payment Order
Staggering payments helps reduce congestion at banks, ATMs, retailers and other payment points. The regular calendar follows this broad sequence:
-
Older Persons Grants
Normally the first regular-grant payment category of the month. This is the calendar column to check for an Older Persons Grant or old age pension.
-
Disability Grants
Normally the second regular-grant payment category. Check the Disability column for the month you need.
-
Children's Grants
Normally the third regular-grant payment category, including major grants intended to support eligible children and their caregivers.
These are scheduled categories, not a promise that the three payments will always fall on three consecutive calendar days. Dates are arranged around the banking calendar and may be revised for specific circumstances. Always use the published date for the particular month, not an assumed day of the week.
What Happens on Weekends and Public Holidays?
Public holidays and weekends affect when SASSA schedules payments. SASSA's 2026/27 announcement says it considers factors such as avoiding weekends, the first day of the month and certain holiday-related timing. Government reporting also explains that payments falling on a non-working day may move to a following working day. However, there is no substitute for the actual published monthly calendar, particularly when SASSA issues a later revision.
April 2026 · Easter holiday period
2, 7 and 8 April
Older Persons Grants were scheduled for Thursday, 2 April. Good Friday was 3 April and Family Day was 6 April, so Disability and Children's Grants followed on Tuesday, 7 April and Wednesday, 8 April.
July 2026 · Weekend between payments
2, 3 and 6 July
Older Persons and Disability payments were scheduled for Thursday, 2 July and Friday, 3 July. Children's Grants followed on Monday, 6 July, after the weekend.
Does Everyone Receive Their Grant at the Same Hour?
A scheduled payment date tells you when SASSA intends to make a grant category available. It does not establish an exact time when every bank account, card or collection arrangement will reflect the money. If a payment is missing, first confirm the correct month and any revised date rather than assuming an error because funds were not visible early in the morning.
Once grant money has been credited to an account, recipients generally do not need to withdraw it immediately on payment day. SASSA has advised beneficiaries to avoid unnecessary first-day queues. Your bank, card or payment provider may have its own access arrangements, so use official channels if there is an account-specific problem.

Find the correct grant column
Payment Dates for Older Persons, Disability and Children's Grants
The official SASSA payment dates table uses three broad categories. If you know which type of grant you receive, you can find the matching column in the 12-month calendar above without searching through separate monthly articles. The notes below also explain how certain supplementary or less common grants fit into the schedule. If you need age requirements, means-test limits or application steps rather than payment days, see our SASSA Older Persons Grant guide.
Category 01 · Older Persons
Older Persons and Pension Grant Dates
For the Older Persons Grant, sometimes called the old age pension, use the Older Persons column in the annual calendar. This category is normally scheduled before Disability and Children's Grants.
If you're looking for pension grant dates, remember that the date changes from month to month. For example, the scheduled Older Persons payment is 2 December 2026 for December and 5 January 2027 for January.
Category 02 · Disability
Disability Grant Payment Dates
People receiving the adult Disability Grant should consult the Disability column. This is normally the second category in SASSA's regular payment sequence.
For example, the confirmed Disability Grant date is 3 December 2026 for December and 6 January 2027 for January. The April 2026 payment date was 7 April because of the holiday-period schedule.
Do not assume the separate Care Dependency Grant uses this column merely because that grant supports a child with a severe disability; it is a distinct child-related grant.
Category 03 · Children's Grants
Child Support, Foster Child and Care Dependency Payment Dates
The Children's Grants column gives the scheduled date for the regular child-grant payment group. This covers the main child-related assistance categories, including Child Support, Foster Child and Care Dependency grants, although combined household payments and individual arrangements may differ.
The confirmed Children's Grant date is 4 December 2026 for December and 7 January 2027 for January. In July 2026, the date was 6 July, not 4 or 5 July, which fell over the weekend.
A Care Dependency Grant is a child-related grant with its own eligibility rules; it is not the same benefit as an adult Disability Grant. Caregivers receiving an approved Care Dependency Grant can use the Children's Grants schedule as a category reference; our Care Dependency Grant guide explains this benefit's qualifying conditions and application steps.
What About War Veterans Grants and Grant-in-Aid?
The official annual table does not provide a separate payment-date column for every individual grant. These two benefits deserve an explanation rather than being silently placed under the wrong category:
War Veterans Grant
This is a distinct social grant, not another name for the Older Persons Grant. It does not have its own column in the published three-category 2026/27 schedule. If its payment arrangement is not clear from your SASSA communication, confirm your applicable date directly with SASSA rather than relying on a separate, unverified War Veterans payday.
Grant-in-Aid
Grant-in-Aid is an additional benefit for qualifying recipients of an Older Persons, Disability or War Veterans Grant who need full-time care. The South African Government states that Grant-in-Aid is paid together with the person's underlying social grant. It does not automatically use the Children's Grants payment date.
How to Check Your SASSA Payment Date
- Choose the month you need using the month selector in the 2026/27 payment calendar above, or read the corresponding row directly.
- Match your grant to the Older Persons, Disability or Children's column. For a less common or linked grant, check the additional notes above.
- Check for a later official revision. November 2026 uses revised dates, and special review-case payment days do not apply to everyone.
- If the date or your particular payment arrangement remains unclear, consult SASSA's official information or call 0800 60 10 11.

Different payment system
Are SRD R370 Payment Dates Different?
Yes. The SASSA payment dates in the annual calendar apply to regular social grants, including Older Persons, Disability and Children's Grants. The SRD R370 payment dates work differently: there is no single fixed payday that applies to every approved SRD applicant. SASSA checks qualifying conditions by month, and the date shown for one person cannot be used to predict another person's payment.
Regular social grants

Older Persons, Disability and Children's Grants have scheduled payment dates announced for the financial year. Find your month and category in the 2026/27 payment calendar, then check for later official changes.
The dates are arranged by grant category.
SRD R370 assistance
Individual monthly result
SRD approval and any available payday information relate to the applicant's own monthly status. A regular grant date, or a general payment window shared online, does not establish your personal SRD payday.
Check the month and any date displayed by SASSA.
How to Find Your Own SRD R370 Payday
- Open SASSA's official SRD status service and complete the steps requested there, not on this independent information page.
- Review the result for the month you need. An approved result applies to that particular month; check whether the service also shows a payment date.
- If no date is displayed, review any banking or verification instructions and check that same month again later. Do not assume approval alone means the payment has already reached your account.
If your SRD result asks you to provide or verify a payment account, our SASSA change banking details guide explains how to handle that separate issue safely. Updating an account does not establish a fixed SRD payday.

SASSA Grant Amounts for 2026/27
The SASSA grant amounts for 2026/27 increased for several grant types from April 2026. One important midyear change affects the Foster Child Grant, which increased again in October. The amounts below are the published monthly grant rates, not a guarantee of approval or payment to any particular person.
Use the two amount columns to see the April–September rates and the values applicable from October 2026 through March 2027 under the announced 2026 Budget measures. The R370 SRD assistance is listed for comparison but does not follow the regular grants' fixed payment calendar.

What Changed in the 2026/27 Grant Increases?
The Older Persons Grant for people aged 60–74, the Disability Grant and the Care Dependency Grant reached R2,400 per month from April 2026. Eligible Older Persons beneficiaries aged 75 or older and War Veterans Grant recipients receive R2,420. The Child Support Grant and Grant-in-Aid are R580, while SRD support remained at R370. The Foster Child Grant is the category with an additional October increase in this published schedule.
Child Support Grant: more than one child
If a caregiver receives a separately approved R580 Child Support Grant for each of three qualifying children, the combined value would be R1,740 per month (3 × R580). This is a calculation example, not a statement that every household or child qualifies for the grant.
Grant-in-Aid is supplementary
Grant-in-Aid supports eligible beneficiaries of an Older Persons, Disability or War Veterans Grant who need full-time care. It is paid with the qualifying underlying grant; it is not a standalone children's-grant payment day.

Payment help
What to Do if Your SASSA Payment Is Late or Missing
If your SASSA grant payment is not showing, first check the scheduled date for the correct month and grant. A delayed bank transaction, a card access problem and a grant review are different issues. Finding the right one can save you an unnecessary trip or repeated calls.
For SRD R370, a month marked declined is different from an approved payment that has not arrived. If you disagree with the declined decision, our SASSA appeal guide covers the month-specific challenge process.
First, Identify Which Payment Problem You Have
Scheduled payment
Date passed, but no credit appears
Confirm the announced payment date, including any revised schedule, and check the account or card you normally use. An earlier monthly payment date or another person's balance does not prove that your own payment has been processed.
Card or transaction
Money may be credited, but access fails
A declined ATM transaction, incorrect PIN, lost card or unmigrated Postbank Gold Card may affect access to funds. Check with the relevant bank or Postbank rather than treating every card problem as a SASSA grant decline.
Grant administration
Review or verification requested
Follow any verified SASSA notice about a grant review or required life certification. A review-case payment arrangement is not an automatic extra payment day for all beneficiaries, and ignoring an official request can affect later payments.
Five Steps to Check a Late SASSA Payment
- Recheck the date and category. Use the 2026/27 payment calendar and read the latest official updates. For example, the revised November 2026 Older Persons payment falls on 30 October, not the date in the original annual notice.
- Check the correct account or card. Look for the credit using your own bank's official app, statement, ATM or supported card channel. A payment-date announcement does not mean every bank balance updates at precisely the same hour.
- Read any SASSA communication. If you received a genuine grant review, identity or life-certification instruction, follow the stated official process. Do not enter personal details through a link that you cannot authenticate.
- Contact the organisation that can solve the problem. For grant entitlement or an unexplained missing regular-grant payment, contact SASSA; for Postbank card, PIN or transaction issues, contact Postbank; for an account at another bank, contact that bank about the transaction.
- Keep a record of the enquiry. Note the payment month, grant category, the date you contacted the provider and any reference number given. Do not post your ID, bank account number or OTP in public comments.

Collection and card safety
How to Collect Your Grant Safely: Banks, Retailers and Postbank Cards
Knowing your SASSA payment dates is only part of planning. It also helps to know where the money can be accessed, whether you need to withdraw it immediately and what to do if an older payment card no longer works.
Where Can You Access Your Social Grant Money?
Bank account and ATM
Grants are deposited into qualifying beneficiaries' chosen accounts, including commercial bank and Postbank accounts. Check the account using its official channels. Your card network, bank and account terms determine which ATMs you can use and any fees.
Participating retail outlets
Eligible bank or Postbank cards may be used for purchases or supported cash-access services at participating retailers. Confirm the available service, transaction conditions and store hours before travelling. Not every shop provides every banking service.
Post Office branches are not the old collection option they once were. From 1 May 2026, Postbank moved cash deposits, withdrawals and related banking services away from South African Post Office branches to other channels, including participating retailers and supported ATMs.
Do You Have to Withdraw Your Grant on Payment Day?
This advice applies to money that has actually been credited. It does not turn an announced payment date into proof that a payment was processed, and it does not override a bank's security or account-access rules.
Postbank Gold Card Replacement After 31 August 2026
The deadline to replace old SASSA Gold Cards with Postbank Black Cards was 31 August 2026. That date has passed. Postbank said affected beneficiaries would continue receiving their grants into their accounts, but people who missed the migration could be unable to access those payments with the old card until they completed replacement.
If you still need a Postbank Black Card
- Find a current Postbank replacement point. Postbank said replacement sites would remain available after 31 August, including selected participating retailers such as Shoprite, Checkers, Usave, Pick n Pay, Boxer and Spar. Locations can change; do not assume every branch offers the service.
- Dial *120*355# to locate a nearby participating card-replacement site, or contact Postbank on 0800 5354 55.
- Bring a valid South African ID or temporary ID. The migration is free; Postbank said no forms are required, and you can replace the card outside the province where the grant was approved.
- The new card is intended to work immediately upon issue. Postbank said funds previously on the Gold Card remain reflected in the account. Ask Postbank directly if you cannot access your balance after replacement.
For card and PIN problems, contact Postbank—not a stranger offering to repair your card. Card replacement arrangements can change, so confirm the current service point before making a trip. The detailed replacement process can be covered later on our dedicated card-renewal guide.
How to Avoid Payment and Card-Replacement Scams
- Never give another person your card PIN, one-time password (OTP) or banking password, including anyone claiming to be an official at your home.
- For a new Postbank Black Card, verify the card is clearly branded Postbank and confirm the service at an authorised replacement point.
- Do not pay a supposed compulsory migration fee or sign an unexpected replacement form. Postbank described the official Gold-to-Black migration as free and form-free.
- Never post an ID number, bank details or card photograph in social media comments asking about a missing SASSA payment.
- Report suspicious card offers, missing cards or card-access issues to Postbank on 0800 5354 55; grant administration concerns belong with SASSA.

Payment dates · common questions
Frequently Asked Questions About SASSA Payment Dates
These answers address common questions about the SASSA payment dates for 2026/27, including holiday adjustments, the revised November schedule, grant-specific payments and how to get help. For dates beyond the current financial year, check for a newly approved calendar.
What are the SASSA payment dates for November and December 2026?
For the November 2026 payment cycle, the revised dates are 30 October (Older Persons), 2 November (Disability) and 3 November (Children's Grants). The older persons' payment was brought forward into October; it is still the November grant cycle.
For December 2026, the dates are 2, 3 and 4 December respectively. In January 2027, they are 5, 6 and 7 January. Refer to the full 2026/27 calendar for every month and check for later official changes.
Why were the SASSA payment dates for April 2026 different?
The Easter public holidays affected the usual early-month pattern. Older Persons Grants were scheduled for Thursday, 2 April 2026. Good Friday was on 3 April and Family Day was on Monday, 6 April, so Disability Grants followed on Tuesday, 7 April and Children's Grants on Wednesday, 8 April. These were the published April dates, not proof of a missing payment or system error.
Does SASSA always pay earlier if a date falls on a weekend or public holiday?
No. Do not assume that a payment automatically moves to the previous Friday. SASSA's 2026/27 announcement explains that affected dates may take effect on the following working day, while the agency also considers other scheduling conditions. A separately announced revision, such as November 2026, takes precedence. Always use the published date for your month and grant.
When will the Older Persons pension and Disability Grant be paid?
Older Persons Grants normally form the first regular-grant payment category, followed by Disability Grants. The exact dates vary by month. For example, in December 2026 Older Persons Grants are scheduled for 2 December and Disability Grants for 3 December. Use the corresponding column of the annual calendar rather than assuming payment always happens on the 2nd or 3rd.
When are Child Support, Foster Child and Care Dependency Grants paid?
These fall within the child-related grant arrangements shown under the Children's Grants category in the annual schedule. For example, that category is scheduled for 4 December 2026. Where a beneficiary's grants are linked on the same payment account, access may follow the qualifying primary grant's payment arrangement. If your particular grant is linked or under review, confirm the applicable date with SASSA.
Is 5 November 2026 an extra SASSA payment date for everyone?
No. SASSA set aside Thursday, 5 November 2026 specifically for beneficiaries whose grants fall within the review process. It is not a second regular payment for people whose Older Persons, Disability or Children's Grants are already scheduled on the revised dates. Anyone contacted about a review should respond to the official notice and attend a required appointment.
Does the SRD R370 grant follow the same 2026/27 payment dates?
No. The three-column annual calendar is for regular social grants. An approved SRD R370 applicant must check the individual monthly result and any assigned payday through the official SASSA SRD status service. There is no one fixed date or guaranteed late-month window that applies to every SRD recipient.
What should I do if my SASSA grant has not arrived on the scheduled day?
First confirm the correct month, grant category and any announced revision. Then check the bank or Postbank account you actually use. If the account has not been credited, or you have received a review notice, contact SASSA on 0800 60 10 11 or visit a local SASSA office. If the money is credited but your card or ATM transaction fails, contact the relevant bank or Postbank. There is no universal rule requiring you to wait exactly two or three days.
Will my social grant money disappear if I do not withdraw it on payday?
No, not simply because you wait until another day. SASSA advises that money already deposited into an active account remains available for the beneficiary to access when needed. You can avoid unnecessary first-day queues. This applies to a payment that has actually been credited; account access, fees and security conditions still depend on your payment provider.
Can I still collect my grant using an old Postbank Gold Card?
Do not rely on an unreplaced Gold Card after the 31 August 2026 migration deadline. Postbank said grant deposits would continue into affected accounts, but the old card could no longer provide normal transaction access. The official Black Card replacement was described as free and remains the appropriate route. Call Postbank on 0800 5354 55 to confirm a current authorised replacement point before travelling.
